The Magic Dragon
The dragon of good fortune, creativity, and happiness is an Eastern concept. They are not threatening, but bring good fortune and wellness. Dragons have been depicted on Oriental china and in Sumi paintings for centuries.
I set out to find the dragon in the random pattern of the hand marbled papers. The lines that were already there, but the challenge was in selecting lines which to embolden and shade to reveal the image. This integrates the figure with the background. They are interchangeable. The dragon appears and then shifts away. He is camouflaged.
